Dr Stephanie Bond

MBBS, FRACP (Rheum, Gen Med), AFRACMA

Dr Stephanie Bond completed a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Adelaide in 2011. She went on to complete her basic physician training at St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne, in 2015, before moving to Queensland, affording her the opportunity to pursue her interest in rural and Indigenous medicine. During her training she participated in research into pregnancy outcomes in rheumatology conditions, which is an ongoing area of interest for Dr Bond.

Dr Bond has specialist registration as both a Rheumatologist and General Physician and has also completed a Clinical and Research Fellowship in Connective Tissue Disorders, in Bath, UK, where she gained extensive experience in multi-national clinical trials research as a sub-investigator, as well as the management of patients with complex connective tissue diseases.

Dr Bond has been involved in mentoring and teaching both junior doctors and medical students, which she gets to indulge through her appointment at The University of Melbourne Medical School, and she loves her role as a mentor to junior doctors.

Dr Bond is the recipient of multiple awards, but she is most proud of the St Vincent’s ‘Everyday Hero’ for people who ‘approach every day with compassion, integrity, a sense of justice and a commitment to excellence, as well as giving extra to their work and making a difference in the lives of those around them.’

Dr Bond has appointments as a Consultant Rheumatologist at St Vincent’s Hospital and the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, Melbourne, as well as working in private practice. She has an interest in all areas of general rheumatology and musculoskeletal disease, with a passion for connective tissue diseases and vasculitides, as well as the management of rheumatological conditions during pregnancy. Dr Bond is passionate about providing high quality health care to all and is highly experienced in managing patients with complex rheumatology conditions.

Outside of work she loves travelling, catching up with friends and embracing the return of live music post lockdowns.
